Help spread awareness during Parkinson”™s Awareness Month in April

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario will be dedicating its efforts to spreading awareness and raising funds for people affected by Parkinson’s.

The entire month of April will provide many opportunities for supporting the society’s mission to provide advocacy, education, research, and support services to those affected by Parkinson’s.

This year will mark the 50th anniversary of Parkinson Society Canada and it intends to show the community how much has been accomplished in 50 years.

During April the society’s  largest event will be the Cut-A-Thon which provides participants with a wash, cut and style for a set donation that contributes towards Parkinson’s.

All hair stylists are donating their time and every penny goes towards supporting people affected by Parkinson’s.

The event will be taking place on April 26, visit www.cutathon.ca to find a list of participating salons.

“Parkinson’s is a degenerative neurological disease with no cure, and the recent National Population Health Study predicts it will double by 2031,” said Shelley Rivard, chief executive officer of Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario. “This sobering prediction only highlights how important it is that we have a month dedicated to raising awareness about Parkinson’s.”
